Glenn was in the Army and served time in Viet Nam where he was wounded a number of times. He was decorated with over a dozen medals for his valor. Glenn would've been a Doctor, given different circumstances. He certainly had the capacity for it. I remember a good friend, whose humor remained until the end. Rest in Peace...

Charlotte Hocking (Costa)

Birth Date: 1950-06-26
Deceased Date: 2013-02-17
Obituary:

Charlotte E. Hocking

June 26, 1950 ~ February 17, 2013 (age 62)
Charlotte Hocking, 62, of Scottsdale AZ passed away peacefully at home in the loving embrace of her family on February 17, 2013. Charlotte was born on June 26, 1950 to Louis and Edith Costa in Pueblo, Colorado. She was raised in Pueblo and graduated from Seton Catholic High School in 1968. She married her high school sweetheart, Tom Hocking in 1970. Upon graduation from Colorado State University-Pueblo (formerly Southern Colorado State College), she and Tom moved to Phoenix, AZ in 1972. She began her teaching career in elementary education in the Paradise Valley School District and has lived in Arizona for over 40 years. During that time she received her Masters degree in Elementary Education from Northern Arizona University and also received a Reading Specialist Endorsement. Charlotte developed and implemented the DC Reads Program over 20 years ago at Desert Cove Elementary School, a children's at risk reading program which still used today in the after school program. She inspired and challenged each of her students in the classroom. Many would often come back to her classroom in later years to tell her that she made a positive impact in their lives. Although retired, she would often return to her kids in the classroom to substitute for other teachers. She enjoyed the close friendships with her fellow teachers, staff, parents and students, especially that special group known as the A.D.D.s. Upon retiring from an exceptional 30-year teaching career, Charlotte loved to travel throughout the world. She especially liked spending time at her second home in Loreto, Mexico with new found friends and enjoyed an occasional glass of wine on the beach. She also volunteered for various activities with the Diocese of Phoenix over the past several years. She enjoyed attending NASCAR races, AZ Diamondbacks and ASU Football games with Tom. Charlotte will be fondly remembered for her infectious smile and outgoing personality. She made everyone around her happy. She loved life and life loved her. Charlotte is survived by her loving husband, Tom, of 42 years and two beautiful daughters, Amy (Hocking) Jacobson (Russell), and Alison Hocking, as well as her two grandchildren, William and Addyson Jacobson. She is also survived by her brothers Bruce Costa (Bernie), Robert Costa (Mary), Wayne Costa (Lisa) and her sister Carolyn Shunk (Bryan). She was preceded in death by her parents.

Therese Wolf - March 26th, 2018
Charlotte was a very good friend to me as we grew up together going to grade school at St Leander's and then high school at Seton.  I would often go over to Charlotte's house and she would teach me how to play the piano. Our parents carpooled us to school and events on many cold mornings.  We had much in common as both of our parents were German, and we ofen talked about how strict they were with us.  However, this did not keep us from talking about the many boys we had crushes on and spoke about our dreams for the future.  I Miss You Dear Friend!

Estevan/Steve Flores - July 9th, 2021
We went to Assuimption grade school together and then Roncalli. We weren't related, but always shared a common surname and set of origins. So glad we had a chance to reconnect at the 50th Reunion, where he and Eleanor and me and my date closed out the dinner by dancing till they closed us down. Rest in peace bro.
